Mary di Michele was born in Italy in 1949 and raised in Canada. She is the author of several books of poetry, including Luminous Emergencies, which was short-listed for the Trillium Prize; and Debriefing the Rose, short-listed for the A.M. Klein award. Her poetry has been translated into Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Chinese. Her novels include Tenor of Love, and Under My Skin, which was a Harper’s Magazine Notable Book in 1994. Di Michele is the winner of numerous prizes including first prize for poetry in the CBC literary competition and the Air Canada Award. She is a professor in the English Department of Concordia University, where she teaches in the creative writing program.
