Denise Desautels

Denise Desautels was born in Montreal in 1945. Since 1975, both in Quebec and internationally, she has published more than 30 volumes of poetry and other works, including radio plays and fiction. Her books have received a number of literary awards, such as the Governor General’s Award, the Grand prix de poésie de la fondation Les Forges, and the Terrasses St-Sulpice Prize of the journal Estuaire. She also received a 2005-2006 career award from the Conseil des arts et des lettes du Québec. An anthology of her work, entitled Mémoires parallèles (selected and presented by Paul Chamberland), was published by Noroît in 2004. Denise Desautels is a member of the Académie des lettres du Québec.
