Claude Beausoleil

Born in 1948, poet and critic Claude Beausoleil completed his Master’s under the tutelage of Hubert Aquin at the University of Quebec in Montreal, and then received a Doctorate from Sherbrooke University. His work focuses on the notion of identity in Quebecois poetry. Between 1978 and 1985, he was poetry critic for Le Devoir. His poetry has garnered numerous awards. In 1980 he won the Emile-Nelligan Prize. In 1991, he received the Grand Prize for Poetry from the Jounral de Montréal as well as the Prix Georges-Limbour.
