Ruth R. Wisse

Ruth R. Wisse is the Martin Peretz Professor of Yiddish Literature and Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University and has taught at McGill, Stanford, New York, Hebrew and Tel Aviv universities. Wisse is a pre-eminent authority on modern Jewish literature, a widely published scholar, editor, essayist and columnist. Her works include If I Am Not For Myself: The Liberal Betrayal of the Jews; The Schlemiel As Modern Hero; A Little Love in Big Manhattan; I.L. Peretz And The Makings Of Modern Jewish Culture; and The Modern Jewish Canon.
