Born in Scotland, Giles Walker made his way to North America and graduated from California’s Stanford University Film School with a Master of Arts degree in 1972. He went on to direct and/or produced 20 films over a 17 year career at the National Film Board of Canada. In 1994 he ventured into episodic television, directing five episodes of the gritty Canadian police drama Sirens. His films have won over 40 national and international awards, including an Academy Award nomination for Bravery In the Field (Best Live Action Short Film -1980), which starred Matt Craven in his first film role. His feature 90 Days won a Gold Ducat at Mannhelm, a Gold Plaque at Chicago and a Gold Toucan at Rio de Janeiro. Princes In Exile won the Golden Nymph for Best Television Film at the 1991 Monte Carlo Television Festival as well as the Prix AMADE at the same festival. Ordinary Magic won the Lukas Jury Prize at the 1993 Frankfurt Film Festival and a Gold Medal at the 1993 Giffoni Festival in Italy. rn
