Raquel Rivera was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. After graduating from York University with a B.F.A. in Visual Arts in 1987, she moved to Barcelona, Spain, where she taught English and pursued drawing. Some years later, she went to live in Singapore. While working as a project manager and copywriter for a graphic design firm there, Rivera produced a series of artist books. Her “Small Books” now tour North America in Projet mobilivre/Bookmobile and are included in the collection at Montreal’s Bibliograph/e Zine Library. Since 1999, Rivera has been focusing exclusively on her own writing and art while raising a family. She has since published poems, exhibited her drawings and written children’s books. She lives in Montreal.
