A.M. Klein

Abraham Moses Klein was born in Ratno, Ukraine, and moved with his family to Montreal at the age of one. He studied classics and political science at McGill University and began publishing poetry and prose as a student. An active member of Canadian Young Judea, a Zionist youth organization, Klein edited its magazine, Judaean. Much of his early fiction and poetry was published there. From 1933-1956, Klein worked as a lawyer. He later became a visiting lecturer in poetry at McGill University and belonged to the Preview group of Montreal poets.
