Shawn Katz

Shawn Katz is an editor and journalist from Montreal, Quebec. He is a past editor of Rover, a Montreal-based online arts and culture review, where he has been a contributor since 2010. He has served as an Assistant Campaign Director for Projet Montréal and interned within the Department of Capacity-Building and Public Outreach at the state-level Human Rights Commission in Mexico. He holds a joint M.A. in Communication and Culture from Ryerson and York universities and an Honours B.A. in Political Science from Concordia, where he was awarded the Renée Vautelet Prize for Political Science.rnrnAt age 22, he ran as a candidate for the Assemblée nationale under the banner of the Parti vert du Québec in the riding of Robert-Baldwin. He finished in second place, behind the Liberals, with just over seven percent of the popular vote.rnrnRaised in the suburbs west of Montréal, Shawn has spent various periods working and studying in Paris, Toronto, Cairo and outside Mexico City. He has travelled extensively across Europe, the Middle East and Mexico and speaks English, French and Spanish.
