Valmai Howe Elkins has long been interested in the effects of environment on human development. She is the author of The Rights of the Pregnant Parent, the book that changed hospital birth by fostering the setting up of special birthing rooms in North America. As a Feng Shui consultant, she has a large international private and commercial practice. She is an accomplished speaker and lectures widely on Feng Shui. Her novels include The Dreams of Zoo Animals, and The Lonliness of Angels. She holds an MFA from Bennington College, Bennington, VT.
