Harold Hoefle

Harold Hoefle’s work has won fiction and poetry prizes; the latter include the Bliss Carman Award, the Great Blue Heron Poetry Award, and a National Magazine Awards silver medal.  In 2018, McGill-Queen’s University Press published his debut collection, The Night Chorus. Recently (2026), above/ground press published a chapbook, Leaning In.  His poems have appeared in numerous Canadian and international journals.  His collection of linked short fiction—The Mountain Clinic—was a finalist for the Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction (2009).  A long-time resident of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Harold now lives in Ottawa, yet continues to teach in Montreal.
