Janice Hamilton

Janice Hamilton grew up in Montreal. After graduating from university in Ottawa, she lived in Whitehorse, Yukon, then returned to Montreal and spent six years as a reporter for The Canadian Press. As a freelance writer since 1984, she has tackled subjects ranging from science and health to social issues, and her articles have appeared in numerous magazines, including Canadian Geographic. She has written more than 10 non-fiction books for children and contributed to Building on a Century of Caring, a centennial history of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Her latest project, The St. Lawrence River: History, Highway and Habitat, also features her photography.
