Joanne Gormley

As a writer, Joanne Gormley published her first novel, Revelation, in 2024. Other published works include a personal essay on Covid-19 that appears in Chronicling the Days from Guernica Editions, and a short story, “Bring Her Back,” in the online literary journal carte blanche.

During the 80’s Joanne was an actor with Youth Theatre and with The Montreal Improvisational Theatre, and was co- founder and director of the feminist theatre co. Red Light Productions, staging the multidisciplinary productions  Bad Girls and  Wild Gardens at Théâtre Expérimental des Femmes. As a Canada Council for the Arts recipient, she produced the performance festival, Femmes en solo, and was also co-organizer for Colloque des femmes, a panel of international women playwrights held during Festival de Théâtre des Amériques.

Joanne holds a BFA in Studio Art from Concordia University. Her work appears in private collections.  

Throughout her life Joanne has been an avid yoga practitioner and teacher, going on to co-founder and direct Yoga on the Park in Montreal.
