Pearl Eliadis

Pearl Eliadis is a lawyer, lecturer and author.rnrnHer practice focuses on human rights law, national institutions (human rights, ombuds and transitional justice), and democratic governance. She also provides strategic advice to organizations on public interest litigation.rnrnShe received her legal training at McGill and Oxford, and has twenty years experience in human rights. Clients include the United Nations, the European Commission, international consortia, and NGOs. She has a special interest in gender equality and in addressing violence against girls and women. Designated by the UNDP as a Human Rights Expert, Pearl is also designated on its roster for Rapid Responses in Crisis Prevention and Recovery. rn rnPearl teaches Civil Liberties at McGill’s Faculty of Law and has published extensively on human rights and equality law. She is a full member of the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism.rnrnIn 2013, she was appointed President of the Quebec Bar Association’s Advisory Committee on Human Rights.rnrnPearl has received several awards for her work, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Canada 125 Medal. Her book, Speaking Out on Human Rights: Debating Canada’s Human Rights System, was published by McGill-Queen’s University Press in 2014.rn
