Paul Eid

Paul Eid, who has a doctorate in sociology from the University of Toronto, is a researcher at Quebec’s Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse. His research focuses on the questions of immigration, inter-ethnic relations, categorization, and discrimination of a racial character, as well as political and judicial overtures toward a more pluralistic culture. He has published notably on the social, cultural, and political significance of the Islamic voice in the Arab-Muslim world, as well as the stereotyping and stigmatization confronting Arab youths in Montreal. In 2006, he published a book called Negotiating an Arab Identity in a Canadian Context: Ethnic Identity-Building among Second Generation Arab Youth in Montreal (McGill-Queen’s University Press).
