Julie Bruck’s first book, The Woman Downstairs, received QSPELL’s A.M. Klein Award in 1994. Her work has won her a National Magazine Award for poetry, and has appeared in such magazines as Carousel, Ceilidh, Ms., and The New Yorker. A native Montrealer, she has taught writing at Concordia University, and has been a regular contributor to CBC Radio. She lives in San Francisco, California.
