Julie Barlow

Born in 1968, Julie Barlow grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. She began working as a magazine journalist in 1995. Julie has published widely in both English and French in magazines and newspapers in Quebec, Canada, the U.S., and France. A long-time contributor to Quebec news magazines L’actualité, she has published in The New York TimesUSA TodayThe Christian Science Monitor, the Courier international, and more.

A specialist of French culture and language, Julie co-authored The Bonjour EffectThe Story of French, Sixty Million Frenchmen Can’t Be Wrong, and The Story of Spanish. She has also written books on hydroelectricity, medicine and most recently, Going Solo, a guide for the self-employed. She speaks about her books for audiences in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
