Clayton Bailey was born in Marquette, Manitoba. He is a photographer, filmmaker, and novelist who currently teaches film production at the Université de Montréal. His first novel, The Expedition, was nominated for the 2003 Books In Canada First Novel Award and the 2004 QWF McAuslan First Book Prize. He has written several short films, including People at Work: The Right to Refuse, which won the American Film Festival’s Red Ribbon Award. Optique, a short story collection, was published in 2007.
