Paul Almond, OC, was one of Canada’s preeminent film and television directors, having directed and produced over 130 television dramas for the CBC, BBC, ABC and Granada Television. Late in life, he turned his talents to writing a series of novels based on his family’s own pioneering adventures in Canada. The first novel, The Deserter, was a national bestseller. At the time of his death, Paul Almond divided his time between Quebec’s Gaspe Peninsula and Malibu, California.
