Madelene Ferguson Allen was a teacher and a writer, neophyte historian, and traveller. She lived in Lennoxville, Quebec. She was also a reunited adoptee and activist in the struggle for equal rights of knowledge about their lost families. In 1992, she published the autobiographical/instructional book, ‘Reunion: the Search for my Birth Family’. In 1997, she published her second work of non-fiction, the South Pacific shipwreck account, ‘Wake of the Invercauld’. She died in 2003 from liver cancer.
