Katherine Alexander was born Katherine Vlassie. She grew up in what was Fort Rouge, Manitoba, a Winnipeg suburb now known as Osbourne Village. After graduating from the University of Manitoba, she lived in Greece for eight years, and returned to Canada in 1967, where she returned to university and taught school. In 1987, she published the well-received book, ‘Children of Byzantium’. She presently lives in Greece.
