Morris is a widower living a conventional and pleasant life seeking solace in his gardening work and raising his daughter, Kate, who has been sexually harassed at her college. Their sheltered community is flipped upside down when women begin to be murdered in gardens Morris and his daughter have tended. Suddenly the loveliest of places become the most threatening. In the face of sorrow, pain, injustice, and confusion, Morris finds himself surrounded by a community of deftly drawn friends, clients, enemies, lovers, and potential murderers. Anxiety, misperception, paranoia, and revenge quickly displace the pleasure of everyday life.
