Québécois Culture through the Eyes of an Artist: 1935–1960: Marcel Dargis – Artist and Storyteller tells the story of Marcel Dargis, a respected and known Québécois naïve artist, who has made a very significant contribution as an artist to the patrimoine culturel of Quebec. His 750 paintings provide within an historical perspective, a very unique and exceptional recollection of Francophone Catholic life in his parish of Saint-Lazare, situated in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, as he perceived it during the first 34 years of his life, in particular the late 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The book includes 126 of Dargis’s paintings, reproduced in colour.rn
