La Mort au Menu

Dining with Death is magical realism with Canadian content. It is a story about Zophia, a marginalized senior who gets twisted up in a pilot project to help the Angel of Death pass the almost-dead. Though the story is about dying, the story is light; a light finger-wagging at the very difficult subject of senior neglect. Along with her friends, Zophia is coping at a stage in her life when she must decide if she wants to die with dignity or live. The story introduces readers to various multicultural interpretations of the grieving process while considering how we define family, friends and the hereafter. But more than that – it pokes fun at death.
