Imprints III by Ray and Diana Baillie

From the introduction: “When we began this book project in 1996, we had a general idea of what we believed to have been the role and presence of the English-speaking peoples of Quebec. The reality far exceeded our expectations and the vast and varied nature of the role of the English in the building of Quebec’s communities was a delightful process of discovery for us. In 2001, Imprints, which covered Montreal and the western part of the province, was published; in 2002, came Imprints II on the Eastern Townships; and, now, we present Imprints III which considers Quebec City and the eastern part of the province. Imprints III differs slightly from the first two books. While volumes I and II consider landmarks built mostly before World War I, this one covers the mid-18th century to the mid-20th since many of the communities on the North Shore were developed later. This volume also covers a much wider geographic area than the others, traversing eleven different regions from the St. Maurice to Blanc Sablon, from the Beauce to the Magdalen Islands. The various communities in whose early development the English played a role are spread out with little or no connection other than that their language of origin was English.”
