I Volunteered by Tracey Arial

I Volunteered: Canadian Vietnam Vets Remember started as a newspaper article, quickly turned into a magazine article, and eventually grew into a book. For the author, I Volunteered constituted a personal journey that took three years of her life and involved interviews with over 200 people. The thrust of the project comes from two of Tracey Arial’s uncles, who volunteered to fight in the Vietnam War. One of them, who was 19 at the time, saw battle. He was not willing to talk to Arial about his experiences, so she was left to find out about the Canadian Vietnam experience through other veterans.
