Words On the Wall, The by Mary Soderstrom

Robert Nelson was one of the leaders of the rebellion of 1837 in Lower Canada. Mary Soderstrom has uncovered important new information about his early life, and written a lively, pungent biography (much fact, some fiction) of the man who spent his early years with his family and patients and later wrote the Declaration of the Republic, working as a Patriote alongside Louis-Joseph Papineau. The political career of Robert Nelson is now almost forgotten. This is the first book to give prominence to the pivotal role he played in the struggle for independence from Great Britain.
