Originally from Manitoba and currently living in Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot, Quebec, Claire Chabalier’s education includes degrees in French and English language and literature as well as in translation. Claire has been a certified member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes du Québec since 1979. After spending 29 years working as a translator for the private sector, she now works for herself.

Since 2005 she has teamed up with her sister Louise to translate five novels and an autobiography. In 2008 the Chabalier sisters received the Governor General’s Award for English-to-French translation for Tracey en mille morceaux (The Tracey Fragments by Maureen Medved).
