Julija Šukys (PhD, University of Toronto 2001) is the author of two books of creative nonfiction, Silence is Death: The Life and Work of Tahr Djaout and Episolophilia:Writing the Life of Ona Šimaitė. Sukys’s work has appeared in the Globe and Mail, Lituanus, Alphabet City, Feminist Formations, The Journal of Human Rights and elsewhere. In the spring of 2012 she appeared on CBC Radio One’s The Sunday Edition with Michael Enright. Her awards include fellowships and grants from the Canada Council, CALQ, SSHRC, YIVO, Yad Vashem, The Holocaust Education Foundation, and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund. Sukys lives in Saint-Lambert, Quebec.
