Sophie Voillot
Sophie Voillot was born in Marseille and grew up in the Montreal area. She studied literature and linguistics and worked for a short while as a screenwriter before focusing on translation. She also has published poems and short stories in various reviews. She has been a translator for 20 years and has authored several literary translations. Voillot was awarded the 2006 Governor General’s Literary Award for her translation of Thomas Wharton’s novel Salamander (French title: Un Jardin de Papier). She lives in Montreal.
