Nigel Spencer
Raised in London (England) and in Montreal, Nigel Spencer has also lived in Toronto and in Conakry (Guinea, West Africa). A collection of his poems, titled ‘After-images’, was published in RAMPIKE (Winter, 1999).
He has been awarded the Governor General’s Literary Award twice for consecutive translations in Marie-Claire Blais’ novel quartet SOIFS: THUNDER AND LIGHT (2002), and AUGUSTINO AND THE CHOIR OF DESTRUCTION (2007). He has also translated several books for the Poet Laureate Pauline Michel.
In addition to numerous documentaries, he has subtitled the DVD re-release of UNE SAISON DANS LA VIE D’EMMANUEL, and has appeared in the documentary ILLUMINATIONS: MARIE-CLAIRE BLAIS.
