Arleen Solomon Rotchin grew u in Montreal and Miami Beach, where she majored in journalism at the University of Miami. She then studied photography with various photographers and eventually received a Certificate in Phototherapy.

Rotchin has taught at Dawson College and lectured at Vanier College. Her book Portfolio on Old Age was published by Canada Camera. She and her two sons now administer the Sam Solomon Trust Foundation for Underprivileged Children.
