Peter Hadekel

Peter Hadekel is a native of Montreal. He has been a columnist for the Montreal Gazette since 1980, covering city news, politics, and business. From 1997 to 2002, he served as The Gazette’s editorial page editor.

In 1985, he won an honourable mention for best business writing in the 1985 National Magazine Awards for an article on Hydro-Quebec.

Hadekel is also a financial columnist for IE Money Magazine and is a regular contributor to CBC Radio. In 1991, he and co-author Ann Gibbon won the National Business Book Award for Steinberg: The Break-up of a Family Empire.

Hadekel was also nominated for a Canadian Association of Journalists award for his reporting on the Summit of the Americas held in Quebec City in 2001.
