Marianna O’Gallagher was born in Quebec City on March 24, 1929. Between 1952 and 1985, as a member of Halifax’s Sisters of Charity, she taught at primary schools in Nova SCotia, New York, New Brunswick, Massachusetts, and Quebec. In 1985, she left the sisterhood. Her primary interests involve researching the history of the Irish in Quebec. In 1981, she founded the small press Carraig Books. In 1995, O’Gallagher started publishing French worksas well, under the banner Livres Carraig Books.
