Bernard Epps was born in Whitstable, Kent county, England in 1936. In 1950, his family immigrated to Ohio. After graduating high school, his time was divided between a career as a draftsman and two non-consecutive years as a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 1965, he married Susan Dreger. In 1966, he purchased his father’s farm in Gould Station, Quebec, and has been a Townshipper ever since. In 1967, his only child, Jennifer, was born. Settled in the Townships, he would devote most of his time to writing.
