Ann holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa. Ann’s reporting career began at the Montreal Gazette, where she covered major business stories and developed the ability to write clear prose under intense deadline pressure. She then spent 10 years as national correspondent with the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business in Montreal and Vancouver. At CanWest News Service in Winnipeg she helped senior editors prepare stories for CanWest’s stable of newspapers across Canada. Ann was a business columnist for CBC radio and TV, and a business panelist on Peter Gzowski’s Morningside. She has reported from Europe, Japan and Africa.

Ann co-authored a best-selling book, Steinberg: The Breakup of a Family Empire (MacMillan, 1990), chronicling the history of the Steinberg grocery giant. It won the National Business Book Award. She also contributed to a management book, Everything I needed to know about business…I learned from a Canadian! (Wiley & Sons, Leonard J. Brody and David Raffa, May 2005).
