Sheila McLeod Arnopoulos

Sheila McLeod Arnopoulos, an investigative journalist for many years in Montreal, has written about English/French relations, minority issues, and the problems of the working poor.

She is the author of three books: “The English Fact in Quebec” (with Dominique Clift), which won a Governor’s General’s Award; “Voices from French Ontario,”; and the novel “Jackrabbit Moon”.

She has received a National Newspaper Award, a Media Club of Canada Award, as well as a France/Quebec Intercultural Exchange Award to write about foreign workers in France. She was also given a special prize by the YWCA in Montreal for her writing about women and work.

Now at Concordia University in Montreal, she teaches in the Journalism Department and at Lonergan College where she gives an intercultural relations course that produces a book of short stories by students. She continues to wirte as a freelance journalist about contemporary social issues.
