Ian Stephens was a poet and singer in various Montréal bands. He worked variously as journalist, model, boucheron, bodyguard and countless other occupations.

His prose and poetry was published in a collection of his book-length work, Diary Of a Trademark, as well as a number of other writing projects such as xero magazine, and Salut les Riches.

He passed away in 1996 from AIDS.
