Jacqueline Nugent was born in 1946 and spent her youth in Oakville, Ontario. She moved to Quebec in 1970, where she fell in love with the French culture. Her published books include Beyond the Door, a fantasy-adventure for 10- to 12-year-olds, and the novel The Glass Treehouse.
