Brian Campbell (who formerly wrote under the name Bryan McKnight) was born in 1957 in Toronto. He studied English Literature at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with an Honours B.A. in 1980. In 1995, he spent the better part of the year in Mexico and Guatemala. The title poem of the book, Guatemala and Other Poems, is fruit of that experience. McKnight now lives in Montreal, where he works as an English second language teacher and freelance translator. Campbell’s poetry has appeared in Grain, Poetry Canada Review, The New Quarterly and Dusie, and is forthcoming in Prairie Fire. A solo cassette of twelve original songs, The Imaginary Album, was produced in 1996; The Courtier’s Manuscript, an independent CD, was released in 2002. Undressing the Night, his translation of selected poems of the Nicaraguan/Canadian poet Francisco Santos, has recently been published by Editorial Lunes, Costa Rica.
