From 1978 to 1987, Reid Scowen was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grace in Montreal, and a key spokesman for the English-speaking community in the Liberal Party. He was also a regular columnist on business and economic matters for the Montreal Gazette.
