Charles Taylor
Charles Marvin Taylor is a Roman Catholic Canadian philosopher known for his viewpoints on morality and modern western identity of individuals and groups.
Taylor was educated at McGill and Oxford universities. He was Chichele Professor of Social and Political Theory at Oxford and was for a long time Professor of Political Science and Philosophy at McGill, where he is now professor emeritus. Taylor is Board of Trustees Professor of Law and Philosophy at Northwestern University. Many of his students have gone on to be important philosophers.
In 1995 he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada. In 2000, he was made a Grand Officer of the National Order of Quebec.
