Muriel Gold
MURIEL GOLD, Ph.D., is former Artistic Director of The Saidye Bronfman Centre Theatre in Montreal, for which, during her eight-year tenure (1972-80), she won acclaim from theatre critics, academics and the public at large. For film, TV and radio she has produced, directed, written, researched, narrated – and worked as casting director, dialogue coach and script consultant – for CBC, CFTV, and Trois Thèmes. She has acted on stage, radio and TV.
Muriel’s books, THE FICTIONAL FAMILY in Drama, Education and Groupwork and Therapy Through Drama: The Fictional Family have received rave reviews from her peers in the profession. Her third book is Drama Across the Curriculum: The Fictional Family in Practice. Her new book, Tell Me Why Nights Are Lonesome is a creative non-fiction work.
For ten years she was on the McGill faculty where she taught acting. At Concordia, she taught Drama in Education and Drama with Special Populations. For the PSBGM, she has given workshops to drama teachers, and has for the past five years, been giving Fictional Family workshops to the graduate Drama Therapy students at Concordia University which culminate in a collective creation performance. For several years, she taught and guest-directed in the Professional Theatre Department at Dawson College.
