Sharon H Nelson
Sharon H. Nelson is the author of nine books and many chapbooks of poems, and of essays, scholarly articles, literary reviews, and scripts. She has worked as a journalist, editor, and teacher, and as co-author of computer science texts. Several of her plays have been produced, and her poems have been used as musical accompaniment for choreographies. She taught Concordia University’s first Poetry Workshop for Women, was the first editor of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute Newsletter, and has taught writing in Canada and Europe. In 1981 she co-founded the League of Canadian Poets’ Feminist Caucus and a decade later the Federation of English-language Writers of Quebec. She focuses on feminist, Jewish, and social justice themes and has lectured across Canada about arts and feminist issues.
