Michael Harris has written six books of poetry, including New and Selected Poems (1994). He has edited several anthologies, most recently The Signal Anthology of Contemporary Canadian Poetry (1993; 2nd ed. 1997). He has twice been a prize-winner in the CBC Literary Competition, winning First Prize for Poetry in 1988. He has edited over fifty poetry books for his Signal Editions imprint (Vehicule Press, Montreal). He has given over two hundred readings of his poetry in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, France, England, Scotland, the U.S. and throughout Canada. A selection of his work appears in French as Miss Emily et la Mort (VLB editeur, 1985). He has translated the complete poetry of Marie-Claire Blais (Veiled Countries\ Lives). His poetry has appeared in the U.S. (The Atlantic Monthly, New England Review), in Ireland (Cyphers), France (Traduction), and widely in Canadian periodicals. He has taught Poetry, Literature and Film courses at Dawson College, and Creative Writing courses at McGill and Concordia Universities. He is currently editing the Montreal Books Press and the Signal International Broadside Series, and is completing a book of poems entitled Circus.
